My Solo Vacay Experience

I'm sure a lot of y'all saw on my Instagram a few weeks ago that I took a little vacation to Miami... ALONE, lol. It probably seemed a little strange to some of you, but it was actually one of the best experiences that I've ever had. Life has been a little chaotic lately, and it just so happened I had an opportunity to get away. For those of you who don't know this about me, I am a major introvert, so being by myself really doesn't bother me! But on the other hand I am extremely type A, and making a last minute, impulsive decision to travel alone was very unlike me. Haha!

Sometimes life has a funny way of making you think a certain way about yourself. I wanted to challenge these thoughts and prove to myself that I CAN do something out of my comfort zone!
Yes, it's probably weird for a girl my age to vacation alone, but I had SO much fun, and 100% recommend it to any of y'all considering it. I met some super nice people, and came back with a whole new mindset about myself and what I'm capable of. Keep reading to hear about my experience!

Flying and racing through terminals to get from one flight to another didn't really bother me because I have flown alone many times, but once I landed in Miami and had to get a taxi by myself... I started feeling a little anxious and thought "what the heck am I doing traveling to MIAMI alone?!?" Lol!
But once I made it to the hotel and got settled in I got SO excited! A beautiful room all to myself, and knowing I could do anything my little heart desired was so thrilling! It was a wonderful feeling, I tell ya!

I went by the pool shortly after checking in ordered chips, guac, and a Pina colada, all before meeting the nicest girl who offered to take my picture with the very last polaroid picture on her camera (you can image my excitement, lol)! After the pool, I went to my room, showered, and ordered the most amazing sushi (from the sushi restaurant there at the hotel) via room service!!! Yup, that's livin' like a queen, haha!

As a blogger staying in a super Instagram-worthy hotel, OF COURSE I'm wanting a picture of everything, but uhhh I didn't have anyone to take my pics, lol. I told myself it was okay if I didn't get a bunch of pics of this trip, but who was I kidding, haha. Thanks goodness for the self timer because I was able to set my timer on my camera and run in front of it before the timer went off! Omg, if y'all could have seen me doing this you would have thought I was totally cray!! But once again, by challenging myself I actually got some pretty good pics, and was so proud of myself!

The next day I spent most of my time by the pool at the hotel, and then got a ride down to the beach and hung out there for a bit. It's really amazing how disconnecting yourself for a bit can make you feel so refreshed. I got to read, listen to the waves, journal, catch up on some blog posts, etc. I think it's SO important (and I'm preaching to myself here too) to be ABLE to spend time alone and not depend on someone else's company to be content. I'm really learning the importance of taking time to work on myself - there's ALWAYS areas to improve! :)

It was funny to me though the reaction that I got from people when I said I was vacationing alone, lol.
But I guess by looking at me it probably seems V unexpected! I was talking to one of the waiters about how old I was and said I had a birthday coming up and he says "oh are you here with friends and family to celebrate?" When I said that I was alone, his jaw literally hit the ground, lol! And anyone else that asked also had the same reaction! But I met some super nice people on my little solo experience, and was so proud of myself for doing it!

If you're considering it, I totally recommend! It's an experience that I promise you won't regret.
I'd love to hear in the comment section below if y'all have ever traveled alone, or if you're planning to!

I absolutely love this post! I can relate to this so much and now I would seriously consider taking a vacay alone. Thanks for the inspiration! Now where to go... :)
